Legal Assistant Program
Effective March 10, 2026, KCBA has terminated its Legal Assistant Program and is no longer issuing Legal Assistant cards.
We made this decision after consultation with several judges and commissioners. The original reasons for creating this program (access to the ex parte court and ability to file documents) have become nearly obsolete with the introduction and growing availability of electronic filing and virtual proceedings. These changes have drastically lowered the number of legal assistants interested in the Legal Assistant Program, making its continuation burdensome for KCBA.
